Uline promises $8,000 year-end bonuses to employees who start by the end of August

In the midst of a competitive market for job-seekers, Uline Inc. is trying to attract warehouse workers, this time, with the promise of an $8000 annual bonus for employees who begin their work on or before Aug. 31.

The Pleasant Prairie-based manufacturer of industrial, shipping, and packaging supplies has scheduled an in-person interview event on Wednesday, August. 11 between 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in its facility on Interstate 94. Its address is 12355 Uline Way. Applicants are advised to sign up prior to the event online at uline.jobs/Kenosha.

Warehouse workers’ starting pay is $23 an hour which includes “Covid hero pay,” Kenosha County branch manager Brad Harper said Tuesday. The company is also hiring managers and management trainees at higher pay Harper said.

Harper has increased the bonuses it offers employees, which were previously around $7,000 this year to $6,000 by September 2020. The bonuses are based on the year-end profit sharing of everyone, Harper said.

The bonuses are determined by Uline’s financial results and are added to the other annual bonuses for performance, Harper said.

“All employees receive it,” Harper explained about the award. “So if you’ve been here for 10 years or you’ve been here for a day, everybody’s eligible.”

The company employs around 350 warehouse workers at the location where they are hiring, and has around 250 office workers, Harper said. The company is currently hiring for 125 warehouse jobs, but it is also continuing to hire for office jobs, he stated.

The need for more employees at the warehouse is driven by the privately owned company’s rapid growth, Harper said.

The employment market is not as rosy for Uline as have all employers in this current climate, Harper said. Uline continues to use its efforts to market strategies that spread the news about its growing business and its competitive starting salaries Harper said.

The bonus of $8,000 is an attractive tool to recruit many applicants, Harper said.

“It speaks not just to our compensation package but I think it really speaks to how Uline values our employees,” the employee said.
